We are concerned about safety on roads near the proposed development. In this area much of the A14 is within cuttings, but this will only add to the surprise and shock drivers will experience when the turbines come into view. High traffic volumes combined with a significant number of heavy goods vehicles, many of which are foreign, lead to stressful driving conditions throughout the length of the A14. There are a significant number of exit sliproads, laybys, service stations, farm and housing entrances, increasing the complexity of the section of the A14 close to the proposed site. The driver therefore requires a greater level of concentration and has little room for error. These turbines may be the object of curiosity and the introduction of a potential distraction along this heavily used section of road may cause drivers to temporarily divert their attention from the road ahead, leading to an increase in the number of accidents. Similar considerations apply to the A508, particularly as it passes the Swan at Lamport where there is a sudden view to the north of the entire set of turbines at what is already an accident black spot.
Both the A14 and the B576 which lie respectively to the North and East of the site may be subjected to shadow-flicker.
