Where Will It Be?
This map shows the potential developable area (in yellow), and the area of the scoping study in red, taken from Google Earth as interpreted from the scoping study. [Click on the image to enlarge.]
Draughton can be seen to the south of the site and Maidwell to the south-west.
Impact on Draughton and surrounding land
These images, using Google Earth, show the potential impact of turbines on the Harrington site. Google has no 3D representation of images so we have added turbines as 3D models, and to aid understanding have also added a 3D model of a church of similar appearance to St Catherine’s in Draughton, albeit with a slightly taller tower, so in real terms the relationship between the turbines and the church errs in favour of the turbine.
The first image shows the A14 in the foreground, with turbines placed in representational positions. Further in the background can be seen models of the turbines between Brixworth and Hanging Houghton. These will be just 2 of the proposed sites along the A14 corridor where, within a 7km radius of each other, there could be 27 turbines.
These images show the sitings of turbines from Draughton. In the foreground can be seen a 3D model of a church not dissimilar to St Catherine’s. The green line in the background is the A14. There are some trees and hedgerows in these views but it is not possible to see them to scale because of the lack of 3D modelling in Google Earth.
This final image shows a 3D model of a turbine sited against a 3D model of the church to show the real scale of the turbines.
Please Note: You should note that that St Catherine’s church tower is slightly shorter than that of the modelled church in this image, and that no turbine is planned for, or will be sited on, this area beside the church. This image is simply to show scale. Only the turbines in the background are within the proposed development site. .
